Shanghai LongHua Hospital
Founded in July 1960, Longhua Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is one of China's four earliest TCM clinical centers. It has received numerous accolades, including National Civilized Unit, Exemplary National Model TCM Hospital, and National TCM Transmission Innovation Center. Longhua Hospital is the only national TCM clinical research base in China focusing on two diseases and has been accredited by Joint Commission International as an academic medical center. It was also among the first to found a tutorial TCM National Medical Center and has been named Shanghai Civilization Unit 15 times. In 2012, it ranked first among China's III-grade level A TCM hospitals. Known for its excellent patient care, the hospital combines healthcare, education, and scientific research and is categorized as a Shanghai grade III level A hospital. Dr. Jiaxiang Liu and Qi Shi were honored as National TCM Masters.
The new campus is under construction at the intersection of Hangdu Road and Hangsan Road. The total area of all campuses is 189.93 mu, with 1,750 hospital beds.
Longhua Hospital sees over 4.15 million outpatient visits and approximately 63,000 discharged patients annually. It has 3 state-level key disciplines, 9 key disciplines from the State Administration of TCM, 3 Regional TCM Centers, 6 National clinical key specialties, 13 key specialties from the State Administration of TCM, 8 Shanghai advantage specialties, and 4 Shanghai clinical medical centers. Notable figures include 2 National TCM Masters, 54 supervisors of academic succession, one chief scientist of the National 973 Program, 1 National Thousand People Plan awardee, 3 Yangtze River Scholars, 3 chief scientists, 3 Qihuang scholars, 46 Shanghai Famed TCM doctors, 2 Shanghai "thousand people plan" awardees, 3 Shanghai University Distinguished Professors (Oriental scholars), and 78 doctoral candidate supervisors, along with 51 studios of other renowned TCM doctors.
The hospital's mission is "quality first, patients upmost, inheriting and innovating, striving for excellence," fostering a culture of "preciseness, benevolence, inheritance, and innovation." It aims to become a world-class TCM hospital by following the strategy of "famous doctor, famous discipline, famous hospital, and famous medicine."
